RGC Standard Grade Electronics Boards


These boards were designed, developed and trialled with the close cooperation of the Physics department at Robert Gordon's College, Aberdeen.
 
The boards are targeted at the Logic Gates and Counters parts of the Electronics section of Standard Grade Physics, and address all relevant learning outcomes.
 
All boards operate from a 5V regulated supply (a regulator board is available if required) and all use 2mm interconnections.

LOGIC GATES BOARD

A completely self contained board for investigation of logic gates individually and in combination.
 
Facilities include three input switches, three NOT gates, one AND gate, one OR gate, and a buffered LED logic indicator to monitor output logic states.
 
Also suitable for Intermediate 1 course.

NOT GATE BOARD
(CLOCK PULSE GENERATOR)

A dedicated NOT gate board designed primarily for investigation of the "clock pulse generator" circuit, though it does have other uses.
 
Three separate input boards allow construction of a sequence of circuits leading to a variable frequency clock pulse generator.  The step by step development should help students understand the principles of this difficult circuit.

COUNTER BOARD

This presents on a single board several self contained functional blocks which may be interconnected to form a complete counter - decoder - display system.
 
This arrangement allows pupils to overcome all relevant learning outcomes in a straightforward way, but is sufficiently flexible to allow interested pupils to progress to quite challenging extension work.
 
Functions include single and continuous pulses, logic indicators, binary counter with indicators, decimal decoder driving large seven segment display.

5V REGULATOR BOARD

An add-on board generating a 5V regulated supply (required by digital electronic circuits) from a standard lab pack.
 
  • Flexible input requirements - 8 to 12V ac or dc
  • Several boards may be powered from one labpack

  • Power on and overload indicators
  • Fuse protection for the board itself
